This collection consists primarily of the records of the Friends of the Pioneer Street Bridge (FPSB), formed from the files of the group's vice-president, Tony Redington. These records pertain to the controversy over the replacement of the historic iron truss Pioneer Street Bridge in Montpelier, Vermont, and to the lawsuit filed against the Federal Highway Administration and the Vermont Agency of Transportation by the FPSB in April 2001. The collection includes legal documents relating to the lawsuit and the bridge; correspondence and papers of the FPSB; newspaper articles; papers related to the planning for the replacement of the bridge by VTRANS, FHWA, and the City of Montpelier; and excerpts from various engineering and governmental studies and publications.

The Friends of the Pioneer Street Bridge (FPSB) was a non-profit group formed out of citizens' efforts to save the Pioneer Street Bridge.
